It's almost Valentine's Day again, which means millions of people all over the world are about to fall into the trap of dropping a load of money on a slap-up meal in some posh restaurant with a French name that serves tiny little portions on massive white plates.

Luckily, this year, discount pub chain dons Wetherspoons have prepared a Valentine's meal of their own and this one won't leave you a month's rent poorer and still in need of a Greggs on the way home.

The deal includes two mains, two desserts and two drinks for the very reasonable price of just twenty quid.

If you don't have a special someone to take with you why not go and just smash the whole thing by yourself? And don't worry about people staring at you, thinking you're some sort of weirdo, because the beauty of 'Spoons is that there will always be a bigger oddball than you milling about in there somewhere.

Even better is the news that steak is back on the menu, having recently been removed due to the chain's supplier Russell Hume being embroiled in a food hygiene scandal.

Now Wetherspoons has found a new supplier and steak will be back on the menu from 30 January.

Not in the mood for steak? No problem. You can choose from BBQ pork ribs, a mixed grill or the BBQ chicken melt.

And for all you veg heads out there there's a Mediterranean vegetable lasagne up for grabs.

Dessert-wise, lovebirds can pick from the warm cookie dough sandwich with ice cream or the chocolate fudge cake with ice cream.

You can upgrade the package to include a bottle of Prosecco for no more than an adittional fiver.

However, to avoid any disappointment it's worth checking ahead with your local branch, as not all will necessarily be running the promotion - and the last thing you want is to rock up hankering for a double steak dinner, only to be shown the door.

Steak has been off the menu at 'Spoons for a while now due to what the press are calling the 'biggest food hygiene scandal since Horsemeat'.

The FSA said it launched a probe after a visit to Russell Hume's Birmingham plant on January 12 uncovered 'serious non- compliance with food hygiene regulations'.

It added: "All unused meat supplied by Russell Hume has been withdrawn from the businesses that they supply."
