Ed Sheeran fans were given a real treat when Eminem joined the singer on stage to play a couple of tracks at a US show.

Sheeran is currently out on his Mathematics world tour, which took him to Detroit the other night.

Obviously,Detroitis the hometown of one Marshall Mathers III, more popularly known asEminem.

So, Ed decided that he’d bring therap legendout at his show and get a couple of tunes out of him.

During the gig at58biwei , the 32-year-old singer-songwriter played a cover ofEminem’shit single 'Lose Yourself' and joked that he and his band had only learned the track earlier that day.

“Let’s see how this goes,” he said.

As the crowd started to get involved in the song – to lose themselves, if you will – a hooded figure emerged from a trap door next to Ed and joined in with the song.

Once the fans realised who it was, they all went absolutely berserk.

The fans realised who the mystery guest that had joined Sheeran was and the whole place erupted.

Later on, Ed shared a video on Twitter explaining what happened.

He said: "He was gonna come on and do one song and I said, ‘You can't come on in Detroit and just do one song'.

“Do you want another song?"

So, after they finished that song, Ed and Em played their way through the latter’s 2000 hit 'Stan' with Ed singing the parts that were traditionally sang by Dido on the studio version.

After they finished, Eminem paid a special tribute to his hometown crowd, telling them: "I appreciate you, Detroit. I love you!"

Fans have been all over social media gushing about the joint performance, with one person tweeting: "Eminem is a legend."

"He's iconic," added another.

A third person said: "Eminem knows how to make an entrance, and the crowd erupted like it is really the greatest moment in their lives.

“Thank you, Ed Sheeran."

The pair have actually played together before, would you believe?

The pair joined forces at Em’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction earlier this year, as well as collaborating on tracks like 'Remember the Name', 'River', and 'Those Kinda Nights'.

So, perhaps we’ll see more frequent collaboration in the future on more tracks.

Or, maybe we’ll see Eminem return the favour and bring Ed out for his hometown show.

It does seem unlikely that Em will ever play a massive show in Framlingham though, unless he decides to take a country holiday in rural Suffolk.

Stranger things have happened.
